Founder and Principal
James Shum CPA, CA
James is a Canadian tax advisory practice focused on supporting small business owners and families. He has worked closely with owner-managed businesses since graduating from the University of Toronto in 2009 and has built his career across both Big Four and mid-sized accounting firms, with a strong emphasis on tax planning and advisory work.
James earned his Chartered Accountant designation in 2015 and completed the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada In-Depth Tax Program from 2017 to 2019. His work centers on helping clients navigate complex tax matters with clarity and confidence, whether that involves corporate reorganizations, estate planning, or year-end compliance. He takes pride in providing practical advice, thoughtful planning, and reliable support throughout each stage of a client’s business and personal journey.
James is fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, allowing him to serve a diverse client base with clarity and cultural understanding. Outside of his professional work, James enjoys serving in his local church community, supporting Toronto’s sports teams, and traveling to different parts of the world to learn about other people and cultures. Staying connected to his community and maintaining a global perspective are values that shape both his work and his life.
